Back in August 2011 I photographed Cameron when she was only 9 days old.... Today I got to go back for our second session... Oh MY! She is growing up so fast and into SUCH an irresistible and adorable little girl! And she still gets those love-licks from her Labrador, Bailey!
As most of you are familiar, my studio style is to keep it simple and neutral. Lots of grey backdrops. But lately I've had this little fantasy of doing a session on a bright color. I couldn't resist when this client said she wished to have her Golden's photographed on TEAL!... Not only was it fun to shoot on this bright color, Nacina's gang of Golden love was just to die for... some of the most beautiful, happy and delightful dogs ever! Hannah (The Poser), Teala (The Love) and Katie (The Puppy) are from her breeding program, Dave (The Rescue) is the foster that they couldn't let go... All of them were a pleasure to photograph!
Tony is a 12.5 year old Flat Coat Retriever that came from the SPCA when he was just 6 weeks old. Even if I hadn't heard about Tony's story before, when I arrived it was clear he was a special dog with deep soul. When first contacted about doing a session, this handsome boy's proud mom had written, although recently retired "Tony visited terminally ill children. He had the ability to sense when a child's death was imminent (24 hours or less). After a year of never 'missing', the doctors/nurses began to notify family. There were countless times when parent(s) that were about to 'take a break' (going back home, to work, business trip, etc) but stayed close by when told of Tony's alert. I have dozens and dozens of letters from parents, siblings, nurses, doctors telling me what a gift Tony has and the incredible joy he brought to so many children."
New to the family is Tony's little Corgi sister. Just 6 months old, Rosie can bring a smile to anyone's face with her fun and playful ways!
I first photographed Izzy a couple of years ago so it was a pleasure to see her again, just as adorable as before. This lucky little girl has a house full of critters... and some of them even joined our photo session! Noodles the bunny, Trinity the dog, even Christmas the chicken (!)... but her favorite was Brownie the kitty... Let me see if I remember her full name correctly; "Brownie Cookie Sugarpie".
One of the enjoyable things about photographing families is that you really see the kids grow! I've been photographing these girls since the oldest was the age of the middle sister... These girls are always a pleasure to photograph. Three very different personalities, all wonderful!...
The last time these two were in my studio, little sis Natalie couldn't even sit up by herself... Wow! She has grown! How much fun it is to watch families grow. I realized I've been photographing this family for almost four years now.
What can I say?! To know him is to love him! Dozer's owner might not want to admit the soft spot he's got for this ol' Bulldog but as a pet photographer I am witness to a whole lotta love between human and pet and I have to admit, these two have a bond I rarely get to see.
Anyone familiar with my photography knows how much I just LOVE pet abstracts and close ups! So you can imagine how happy I was to get a call from Dr. Rettig at Alternatives for Animals in Lafayette, asking me to decorate her walls with my photography. She also wanted the animals on the wall to be the of her practice,... so we held a photo day right there in the treatment room and got lots of fun shots! We're in the selection process now but soon my images will decorate the walls of her holistic practice. Here are a few of my favorites from the day...
